The well-known composer founded Azúcar Negra in 1998 and it soon became one of the most important and popular Cuban groups of salsa and dance music.Azúcar Negra is known by its lyrical and sonorous quality, as well as for its matchless scenic presence. The texts of their songs, mostly composed by Limonta, always contain positive and special messages for youngsters, accompanied by excellent musical arrangements with a slight influence of the Latin jazz.

The band has very good rythmic and brass sections, as well as first-rate singers with a great capacity for improvising and based on the best Cuban popular traditions.
